OpenAI seeks to dismiss all of Musk’s claims in lawsuit.

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, denied Elon Musk’s assertions on Tuesday that it strayed from its initial goal of creating AI for the good of humanity rather than for financial gain.

In a blog post, OpenAI stated that it plans to move to reject and open a new tab for all of Musk’s assertions. Musk filed a lawsuit last week towards the startup he co-founded, claiming breach of contract and claiming the Microsoft-backed company (MSFT.O), opens new tab, is now primarily concerned with turning a profit.

According to OpenAI, Musk sent an email suggesting that the startup “attach to Tesla as its cash cow” and expressed a desire for the business to combine with electric car manufacturer Tesla (TSLA.O).

According to OpenAI, the idea originated when Musk and the company determined that, in order to raise money for the development of artificial general intelligence (AGI), a for-profit organisation needed to be established in 2017.

The company stated that the billionaire entrepreneur afterwards desired to be CEO of OpenAI, along with majority ownership and initial board control.

However, OpenAI felt it went against its mission to allow any one person to have total control over the company, so Musk and the startup were unable to come to an agreement on a for-profit model.

The three founders of OpenAI, according to Musk in his lawsuit, had initially committed to working on artificial general intelligence (AGI), the idea that machines could perform human-like tasks in a manner that would “benefit humanity.”

Additionally, Musk pressured OpenAI to declare a $1 billion initial funding loyalty in 2015, even though co-founder Greg Brockman and CEO Sam Altman had only intended to raise $100 million.

“We’re sad that it’s come to this with someone whom we’ve deeply admired—someone who inspired us to aim higher, then told us we would fail, started a competitor, and then sued us when we started making meaningful progress towards OpenAI’s mission without him,” stated OpenAI.

When a news channel asked for remarks on the blog, Tesla and Musk did not answer right away.
Musk’s long-simmering disapproval of the startup has culminated in this lawsuit. Since then, OpenAI has emerged as the leading voice in generative AI, in part because of Microsoft’s multibillion dollar funding. Later on, Musk founded xAI, an artificial intelligence startup that debuted in July of last year.

In a lawsuit, OpenAI requests that all of Musk's claims be rejected.
