Google (GOOGL.O) launches a new tab Google on Tuesday detailed modifications to search results as well as new resources for app developers to advertise their products on competing app stores and third-party apps as part of their efforts to adhere to historic EU tech regulations aimed at limiting the influence of Big Tech.
On March 7, companies that control millions of users alongside businesses’ access across their platforms—including Google, Amazon (AMZN.O), Apple (AAPL.O), Microsoft (MSFT.O), Meta Platforms (META.O), and ByteDance, the owner of TikTok—will need to comply via the Digital Markets Act, also known (DMA).

In January, the company made some changes public that were exclusive to users in Europe. Since then, it has made adjustments to some of these changes in response to input from users, app developers, and EU antitrust regulators.
According to a Google blog post, the changes to search results will result in less traffic for hotels, airlines, merchants, and restaurants and more traffic for large intermediaries and aggregators. Users will be prompted to provide permission before Google shares their data with other Google services and products.
In addition to using Google Play’s billing system, app developers will now have the option to use other systems, and a new initiative will let them directly market their products to European users outside of the app.
This week, Google is set to introduce portability of data software in Europe, which will facilitate developers in transferring user data to an external application or service.
