After an outage, ChatGPT is back online.
On Tuesday morning, users reported having trouble using ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, as well as Perplexity, among other AI products.
OpenAI’s GPT service suffered a significant disruption throughout the US daylight hours on Tuesday, after a brief outage that affected the service during the early hours of Tuesday. As to OpenAI’s status statement, “GPT is unavailable for certain users.” “We are looking into this matter right now.”
Many GPT customers were not receiving answers on their mobile devices or over the online interface; however, OpenAI verified the issue had been fixed at 1:17 PM ET.

Concurrently with GPT’s troubles, a few users also reported issues with Google Gemini, Claude AI from Anthropic, and Perplexity AI online search. Claude was accessible once more really fast, and it looks like Google Gemini is generally available. Additionally, Perplexity’s AI search function was operational at 1:30 PM ET.
A 90-minute outage in November of last year affected not just OpenAI’s API services but also GPT, which was experiencing its final significant outage. This most recent outage does not seem to be impacting the API. Later, OpenAI disclosed that a DDoS assault was the cause of the November outage.
The search capabilities of GPT were also unavailable due to a Microsoft outage that occurred last month, which also affected the company’s Copilot service.
AI failing? A system disruption affects ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other AI systems.
What caused the platforms to collapse simultaneously is yet unknown.
How are all of the AI platforms doing? Tuesday’s operations of the majority of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) chatbots, including Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s GPT, were disrupted by an unidentified issue.
Although AI platforms are not yet as widely used as essential services like email, instant messaging, or search engines, their range of applications for personal, professional, or academic purposes is steadily expanding.
However, user complaints and Calcalist testing indicate that all of the well-known services are experiencing a Tuesday system outage for unexplained reasons. It is now not able to utilize Gemini and the well-known GPT. The majority of GPT’s screen is blank, with the exception of the non-functional prompt input line. Gemini shows an error message and only sometimes functions.
Smaller chatbots that display an error message, like Claude and Perplexity, are either not operating at all or simply functioning sporadically.
As of right now, it’s unclear what caused the issue and whether the interruptions to the different services were related to one another or just a coincidence.
Major GPT Outage Affects Thousands
UPDATE 2: According to reports, GPT is experiencing yet another outage. This time, the service went down about 10:30 a.m. ET.
UPDATE: According to OpenAI’s status update website, the issue was fixed and “all systems operational” at around 7:30 a.m. ET. The cause or explanation for the outage has still not been disclosed by OpenAI.
Original story: Does GPT not function? You’re not by yourself. Early on Tuesday morning, many of users reported problems with OpenAI’s chatbot. The “major outage” was verified by OpenAI, and as of about 3:20 a.m. ET, the business’s website’s GPT status page indicates that the company is working on a solution.
In its statement, OpenAI said, “We are continuing with efforts on a fix for this problem,” which was released at about five in the morning ET.
A platform that analyses user claims of website, app, as well as service failures, thousands of GPT customers have reported problems with an AI tool. Tuesday morning, around 2:30 a.m. ET, the number of reports increased. A few users reported that when they attempted to use GPT, they were getting “bad gateway” error messages. PCMag has contacted OpenAI to inquire about the cause of this outage.
However, GPT could be accessible to some users. At around 6:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, a brief test using a computer’s internet browser saw GPT operating as usual.
As to OpenAI’s status page, some GPT users experienced higher latency on Monday and had problems while attempting to get chat prompts with graphics to function on their mobile devices. However, OpenAI claimed to have fixed both of those problems.
Users of GPT experienced partial disruptions for four days in a row two weeks ago. During that period, GPT experienced problems because Microsoft’s Bing API, which it utilizes to do internet searches, was down. More service problems were reported to GPT last month than it had since November of previous year.
However, the AI company keeps releasing new goods. AI language model introduced GPT for colleges in addition to its most recent AI model, GPT-4o. It is anticipated to announce a relationship with Apple at Apple’s Global Developer Forum the following week. It could also be educating its next generation of GPT models.
