On Monday morning, air raid sirens were activated throughout Ukraine as officials reported that multiple cities were being targeted by a continuous “massive missile attack”.

According to Ukrainian military officials, Russia launched a massive missile attack on multiple Ukrainian regions at the beginning of Monday’s peak morning hours, sending alerts for air raids across the entire nation.

“Kyiv – shelter!” The Ukrainian Air Force declared on the messaging app Telegram that ballistic missiles posed a threat to the nation’s capital.

Military authorities in Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine, have also declared that Russia is conducting a “massive missile attack” on their cities.

Russia strikes Ukraine with a powerful missile attack

The Russian Air Force launched a massive missile attack on multiple Ukrainian cities on Monday morning, according to the Ukrainian military.

The capital of Ukraine was in danger of ballistic missile strikes, according to a warning posted by the Ukrainian Air Force on the messaging app Telegram with the message, “Kyiv – shelter!”

According to military officials, there has been a “massive missile attack” on Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytskyi. Additionally, there have been reports of explosions in Dnipro, a city in southeast Ukraine.

At least twelve strategic bomber aircraft were used to launch cruise missiles, including hypersonic Kinzhal missiles, according to reports from local observers, which were cited by Germany’s dpa news agency.

All over the nation, alerts regarding air raids were in effect.

A Ukrainian official described Russia as “viciously attacking peaceful cities.”

Initial casualties from Monday morning’s massive Russian missile attack have been confirmed by Ukrainian authorities.

According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov on the messaging app Telegram, industrial facilities in Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine, were struck, resulting in a fire, injuring at least one woman.

At least two people have been injured as a result of at least five blasts, according to city council officials from southeast Zaporizhzhia. Regional governor Yuriy Malaskho posted on Telegram, saying, “Missiles hit residential areas.”

Air raid sirens were activated in the capital, Kyiv, but military authorities in other cities, such as Dnipro and Khmelnytskyi, claimed their cities consisted pursuant to a “massive missile attack” by Russia.

“Peaceful cities are being brutally attacked by the enemy,” stated Oleksandr Vilkul, the mayor of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih in southern Ukraine.

With nearly two years having passed since Russia launched an extensive bombardment of Ukraine, the two sides are finding it difficult to gain ground on the front lines in the country’s east and southeast and have resorted to more frequent airstrikes against one another’s territory.

Residents of Belgorod were evacuated due to artillery strikes.

Local officials in the vicinity of the Ukrainian border, in the Russian city of Belgorod, have reported that about 300 people have been evacuated.

Over the past week, Ukrainian artillery has increased its attacks on the Russian border town, resulting in at least 25 fatalities and an additional 100 injuries on December 30.

Ukrainian residents in capital Kyiv were instructed to take shelter in this subway station.

According to reports, since the beginning of Russia’s complete takeover of Ukraine in February 2022, that attack on a Russian city has resulted in the greatest number of deaths.

In a video uploaded to Telegram, Belgorod region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated, “Around 300 residents of Belgorod who have decided to be temporarily evacuated are now being housed in shelters in Stary Oskol, Gubkin, and the Korochansky district,” which are farther from the border.

Continued rescue operations in Pokrovsk following the Russian attack on Saturday.

After a Russian air strike on Saturday left at least 11 people dead, including five children, rescuers are still looking for the victims in the eastern Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk.

According to Ukrainian media, a repurposed Russian S-300 air defence missile struck the home of a family of six in a nearby community of Rivne, just outside Pokrovsk.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged rescuers in his Sunday evening television speech, and the Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko assured viewers that rescue operations would continue.

“The force of the enemy attack was too strong, so this work will take time,” he stated.

Russia attacks Ukraine with three cruise missiles and 28 drones, Air force.

Ukraine’s air force said on Sunday that Russia dropped 28 attack drones as well as three cruisers at the country over night. It also said that 21 of the drones had been shot down by its air defence systems.

Ukraine’s Air Force spokesperson, Yuriy Ihnat, told national television that “the enemy is shifting the focus of attack to the frontline territories — Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions were attacked by drones.”
